Hi!
I'm 24 years old and live in a small city in northern Sweden. My main hobby is line dancing, and I teach classes 2-3 times a week, from beginners to advanced. I'll be using this blog to recommend dances and music, as well as commenting on how my classes like the dances. I'll probably update a couple of times per week, after classes. Since they haven't started up yet, there won't be much to read here until the end of January - but then we're in full swing again.
I try to teach a variety of dances, picking something from each style and character during a season of dancing. There's no secret that my favorite type of dance are the funky ones, but latin dances (especially samba) are not far behind. Some of my dancers think that I don't like country music, since I don't teach all country, but that's not right - there's just so much else I like too. And there's also the fact that it's difficult to find really good country dances that are intermediate level and above. If you've got any such dances - please recommend them to me!
I'll start out by recommending my current favorite dance: Sexy Back by Shaz Walton and Ben Martin. The music is Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake - perhaps not to everyone's liking, and it's certainly not 'clean'. It's great if you want to get just a little bit funky though, since it's really a quite smooth dance. There are videos available online, this one on YouTube: Sexy Back (That's Shaz in the middle, if I'm not mistaken), and this one: Sexy Back, demoed by Joey Warren from countryedge.com. That second one is why I wanted to learn it in the first place - take a look, it's great!
Bye for now!
